What is Research?
Research is away from solving problems in your surrounding by putting systematic or procedural steps in identifying the problem, gathering of data / information, analyzing, interpreting and presentation for the results. This process is what makes research very important in different fields like biology, sociology, history, and so on. The research outputs are what makes this era highly advanced in technology, science, and psychology.
Today, Research Subjects are required by the Department of Education (DepEd) before you can complete High School. Research has been integrated in the subjects of Junior High School yet in Senior High School, students are immersed with research subjects by tackling each type of research and by doing research before they graduate high school.
In the academics, there are 3 Types of Research:
1. Qualitative Research- Its the use of words or symbols
2. Quantitative Research- Uses numbers or figures
3. Mixed Method- Uses both qualitative and quantitative approaches
The following video below explained the difference of Qualitative & Quantitative Research
Research started from inquiry until it was developed to be more scientific which became indispensable of a progressive country.
Inquiry - “It is a learning process that motivates you to obtain knowledge or information about people, things, places, or events.” - Baraceros , 2016
Qualitative Research- “Requires non-numerical data, which means that the researcher uses words rather than numbers to express the results, the inquiry, or investigation about people's thoughts, beliefs, feelings, views, and lifestyles regarding the object of the study. - Baraceros , 2016
Quantitative Research- It uses numerical data, which means that researcher uses numbers from data sources such as surveys and interpret results using statistical measurements.
Mixed Method- it is the combination of using Qualitative and Quantitative approaches in conducting and interpreting your research under study. This means both approaches will be used and is compared to come up with the meaningful interpretation towards your study.
