What is interview method in research?
Is a data gathering technique that makes you verbally ask the subjects or respondents questions to give answers to what your research study is trying to resolve.
Steps in Interview Method:
• PREPARE your checklist, notes, guide, plan, timeline, etc.
• CONDUCT
your observation
• RECORD
the data gathered (record it through checklist, notes, video or audio recoding)
• ARRANGE / Group the data
in “THEMES”
• WRITE THE DATA
• PRESENT the data
Remember:
• ASK permission in authority (State your purpose and timeframe)
I'm sure your questionnaire (set of questions) is VALID- meaning you've consulted your questionnaire from the experts of the field and to the adviser of your research.
How to interview?
1. Get to know each other (Introduce yourself, stay relax and polite)
2. Brief, state your purpose and assurance of non-disclosure of interview
3. Start the interview (give time for the respondents, and follow-up if necessary to extract more information)
4. Stick to your questionnaire guide
5. End the interview
6. Say thank you and give token if necessary (pencil, mug, etc.)

Types of Interview
• Structured Interview - This requires the use of an interview schedule or a list of questions answerable with one and only item from a set of alternative responses.
• Unstructured Interview- The respondents answer the questions based on what they personally think and feel about the topic.
• Semi-Structured Interview- The researcher prepare a schedule or list of questions that is accompanied by a list of expressions from which the respondents can pick out the correct answer.

1. Individual interview
2. Group interview
3. Mediated interview use of technology
