What is Quantitative Research?
According to SIS International (2018), Qualitative Research is defined:
• Quantitative Research involves the use of computational, statistical, and mathematical tools to derive results.
• It is conclusive in its purpose as it tries to quantify the problem and understand how prevalent it is by looking for projectable results to a larger population.
There are 2 types of Quantitative Research
1. Experimental Research- deals with the subject of research that applies a treatment to the subject which influences subjects towards its effects.
2. Non-experimental Research- deals with the subject by describing the collected data and determines the relationship with another.Types of Experimental Research
1. True experimental- uses random selection in determining who among the participants should compose the group.
2. Quasi experimental- not chosen randomly but matched or compared with another.
Types of Experimental Quasi
1. Matched Comparison- choosing a treatment group and another group that has similarities with the
treatment group
2. Time-series quasi exp research- giving them a series of pre-test and post test.
3. Single subject quasi exp research- controls treatment and condition applied to just one group.
Types of Non-Experimental Research
1. Survey- it determines what the majority of the subject behaves or idea about an issue.
2. Historical- enables you to explore the meanings, phases and characteristics of a phenomenon or a process at a particular point of time in the past.
3. Observation- the researcher observes current behavior.
4. Correlation — the researcher measures 2 variables and assesses statistical research between them with little or no effort to control extraneous behavior.
5. Descriptive- describes the characteristics of a population or a phenomenon of subject being studied.
6. C omparative- aims to make comparison across groups.
